Another Milestone for The Broken Jack

This past weekend, I reached another major milestone in the journey of The Broken Jack: my final edits are complete, and the book is ready for proofreaders. It's been a long journey to this point, and I'm very happy and relieved to be here.

It has occurred to me that it is possible that no one else may like this book. Perhaps oddly, that's okay with me. I like it. I think it fits its role perfectly. I think it's an excellent example of the hero's journey structure. I like the characters and the story. I think it is a very good book, my best so far. That's the best, really, that I can ever hope for. And I have achieved that. Now, I am moving on to other things. In fact, I have The Dancing Queen open right now. It's back on the front burner at last.

Of course, while I don't need other people to like The Broken Jack, my career path will be easier if people do, and the more the better. To that end, I will now do everything I can to get people to like it. The first, best thing I can do in that regard is to make sure the book is as good as it can be. Thus, it is now out to proofreaders. I hope to have results back from them by the end of this month, and to have it out to publishers shortly after. At last.
